Cependant, des pr\u00e9occupations existent quant \u00e0 la toxicit\u00e9 de certains de ces nanotubes. En 2007, l\u2019Agence a \u00e9t\u00e9 saisie afin d\u2019expertiser l\u2019\u00e9valuation des risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 des mat\u00e9riaux structur\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nanom\u00e9trique bas\u00e9s sur des formulations int\u00e9grant notamment des nanotubes de carbone. La mise en place d\u2019une fili\u00e8re de fabrication des ces mat\u00e9riaux fait l\u2019objet d\u2019un programme de recherche et d\u00e9veloppement. Le soutien financier de ce programme est en partie conditionn\u00e9 par l\u2019obligation faite au <em>consortium <\/em>industriel de fournir une \u00e9valuation des risques sanitaires et environnementaux li\u00e9s aux nanotubes de carbone produits. Dans ce cadre, l\u2019Agence a d\u00e9j\u00e0 produit deux avis et un rapport.
