L\u2019Anses a re\u00e7u 25 signalements d\u2019effets ind\u00e9sirables (majoritairement des atteintes musculaires et h\u00e9patiques) susceptibles d\u2019\u00eatre li\u00e9s \u00e0 la consommation de compl\u00e9ments alimentaires contenant de la levure de riz rouge. L\u2019Agence consid\u00e8re que l\u2019usage de ce type de compl\u00e9ments alimentaires contenant des monacolines peut exposer les consommateurs \u00e0 des risques pour la sant\u00e9, notamment ceux particuli\u00e8rement sensibles du fait de pr\u00e9dispositions g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques, de pathologies ou de traitements en cours, etc. Ainsi, l\u2019Agence recommande de prendre conseil aupr\u00e8s d\u2019un professionnel de sant\u00e9 avant de consommer ces produits. Elle pr\u00e9cise que ceux-ci ne doivent pas \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s par les patients trait\u00e9s avec des m\u00e9dicaments \u00e0 base de statines ni ceux ayant d\u00fb interrompre ces traitements suite \u00e0 l\u2019apparition d\u2019effets ind\u00e9sirables (patients dits \u00ab intol\u00e9rants aux statines \u00bb).
